It was a very enjoyable first week although I'm sure all the challengers looked forward to it, like me, with some trepidation. I felt a warmth from Stephen when he was introduced as my partner, and I was thinking then that he really wanted to win the challenge and I really didn't want to let him down.
Stephen and I were one of the first two pairs to undertake the portrait drawings and I found that to be quite a challenge, although it seemed to come together a bit as the clock ran out. I thought it was hilarious when Miles pointed out my drawing to Stephen who gave a rather polite assessment of my effort only to say afterwards that he didn't think it looked anything like him (which it didn't). I must say that Miles who introduced and commentated on the event got the tone just right and I felt he made us all feel pretty comfortable and at ease.
Since the first day's event I have sent an Email to a few friends and business contacts explaining what I was doing and why. I asked them to log on to see the video clips and to vote for me. I'll certainly try my best to do everything suggested by the Frontrider event Team, and would really like to succeed at this. However, if in the unlikely event I get through I'll have to get into training pretty quickly - I've not cycled this year, and I've never cycled a tandem - better not tell Stephen that or he'll be looking for a transfer!
